Austin, you're seven! You are kind, interested in the world around you, and so much fun to be with.
44 lbs
45.5 inches tall
Some things about Austin at this age:
-Loves playing games, specifically board games and card games.
-Is working hard to read and write, it's amazing to watch him learning and growing.
-His brain just WORKS with math. He understands why things happen the way they do and the way the patterns work together. He can skip count all sorts of different numbers, count to a bajillion, and is raring to get at multiplication instead of basic addition and subtraction.
-In addition to math, he loves STEM type things. He has a lego robot that he can build all on his own, following the instructions carefully, and then can code it to do different things. He loves all kinds of robots and all kinds of building things.
-His speech articulation is developing and strengthening every day. I'm so proud of how hard he has worked and the place that he is at today.
-He's usually the first one up in the morning and is easily the best child at bedtime. He goes to sleep when he needs to and doesn't stay in bed a moment longer than he needs.
-He did his first organized sport, baseball, this summer and really enjoyed it. More recently, he started a gymnastics class and is super happy about that! He's so light and strong, I'm always amazed at how much muscle he stores in that little body of his.
-He's the sweetest boy and I always want to remember his voice saying to me "You're important to me."
My pictures loaded backwards to forwards so all the most recent pictures are at the top (usually I try to do these posts chronologically. So we will start with our great-big-seven-year-old Austin living his best life at the Redwoods in California and end with the startling-ly young-looking 6.5 year old, still living his best life.
FIrst Grade- Austin loves Math and Tech, specifically his coding robot "Boost".
Adventures like: camping at maple canyon, cherry picking, and 4-wheelers and learning to handle a gun with Grandpa Walker (with extra safety lessons)
A fabulous trip to Colorado ON AN AIRPLANE! Austin has been wanting to go on an airplane ever since Lydia got to go to New York when she was six. This was a special trip with just Austin, mom, and dad, and we all had a wonderful time.
The porch is my favorite place to take pictures as evidenced by these darling 4th of July pictures and this one right before David and Austin went on a Daddy-Austin date (I believe they went to a candy store - one of Austin's favorite things.)
Summer was full of kayaking, swimming, baseball, and a new carseat!
I know I mention this all of the time but Austin is just such a great brother. He adores Lydia and goes along with her plans and games. He plays with Caleb and the two of them are constantly working on something together. He takes care of Lucy and gives her the sweetest attention. She calls him Na-nee and it's adorable.

Some time in the fresh air and open sky of Wyoming. Learning about life on a Ranch and all of things that go into that is one of the great gifts of my children's lives. (Including the opportunity to ride on a real tire swing - truly one of their favorite things in the world.)
Homeschool Successes from the spring included once-a-week STEM classes with friends and a bonus "Drop an Egg from the Roof without Breaking It" experiment just because Austin was interested in that and wanted to try.
End of School Celebrations: Readathon and Lagoon Day!
Finally back to in-person Primary after about a year of staying home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wearing masks to church has been fine, although sometimes difficult for such young kids. Austin, however knows how to make the best of the situation - one Sunday he loaded his mask up with gumballs and used them as a storage pocket to snack on during church.
(also included Sunday afternoon Domino track making activities - Austin's really good at that.)
The sweetest boy, making me pancakes for mothers day.
Family Bike Rides.
Spring Hikes: Morgan "M" and the Bear River Suspension Bridge.
A spring break trip to a trampoline park - did you know that these existed? They do, to Austin's great delight. A warehouse full of trampolines, jumping platforms and foam pits.
And last, but not least- one of Austin's favorite places to be: just hanging around.
Austin darling, we love you. We are so glad to have you in our family.
