A little over a week ago I received a text from my little sister that went (in part) as follows:
"Dear Shantel, I just thought I would bring to your attention the fact that you have not posted anything on your blog for 16 days! That is a long time! I know you do exciting stuff and I want to hear about it! This is the only way I can keep up on your life. :) Also, I need a good distraction from my homework!"
When I got her text, I thought "Wow, has it really been that long?" It wasn't until I was talking to my sister-in-law that I realized why I have been neglecting my blog so much. When she mentioned the abandonment of my blog, I explained to her that during school I blog all the time because when I am faced with the choice between blogging and doing homework blogging very easily wins! However, now that school is over David and I have been having a non-stop party. When faced with a choice between blogging, or playing Mario on the wii with David... well... blogging doesn't stand a chance.
However, all things must come to an end... and David said that from now on we have to be responsible. (Which means no more skipping work to stay home to sleep in and play games. Boring.) But because we are being responsible, I now have time to update all of you dedicated people on what has been going on with us this last month! (I'm sure that you are very excited.)
On May 8th, I graduated Suma Cum-Laude from Utah State University in Family and Consumer Science Education. I can't believe how fast the last four years have flown by, but I am excited for the new adventure that "real life" will bring.

I had such wonderful support from all of my family and friends. Special thanks to my in-laws Cal and Sue, my cousin Wayne and his wonderful wife Jessica, my brother- and sister-in-law Michael and Melissa, my parents - Scott and Lori, my siblings- Jenna, Melissa, Jacob, my friends - Kayla and Tyson, and my dear husband David. You all made me feel so loved and special. Thank you for taking the time out of your lives to come and support me.

After Graduation, David and I took a much needed vacation. We decided not to go anywhere fancy, but instead just relaxed at home and spent time visiting both of our families. We played lots of Mario Brothers, branded cows with my family, went to a bridal shower for my dear friend Kayla, and did lots of other fun but non-productive things.
Our vacation was supposed to end when David started classes again on the 17th. However, we had a hard time adjusting and ended up working a short week and then taking off for the weekend. We drove a total of about 14 hours over the course of three days. We were able to go down to Manti for Kayla's endowment, which was amazing, but then headed back to West Jordan to take family pictures with all of David's family. As soon as we were done with pictures, we headed BACK down to Manti for the rest of Kayla and Tyson's wedding. It was so good to be there and see how happy they were. It was also SO fun to see my friends down in Manti. (Pictures to come, I forgot my camera with those pictures at home... again.) Then it was BACK to West Jordan, where we spent the rest of the weekend playing with family. (It isn't often that you can get all 8 kids with their spouses and children together.)

One last shout out. Today is May 25, 2010.Which means that today is my Dad's Birthday. I am going to write paragraph about how much I love my dad. But I just talked to my little sister Jenna on the phone and she chastised me for not having a post. So.... I am going to publish this and finish writing this post tonight when I get home from Morgan, after we have celebrated my Dads Birthday!
