Our summer was great, even though it slipped by all too quickly, and here we are again, already! Back to another school year. Another homeschool year. The thought of having a baby and homeschooling made me think about sending Lydia for about two seconds until I remembered that the homeschooling rhythm was so much better for my soul than the fast-paced bus-catching drumbeat - especially with a new baby.
We are looking forward to this new year! Some goals between the kids and I:
-Lots more art! (me)
-Learn about Praying Mantises and Big Cats (Lydia)
-Lots of science experiments and Poetry Treat Time (Austin)
-Family History Fridays (Me)
-Focus on relationships and creating a home atmosphere of goodness and love. (Me)
-Allow myself to snuggle Lucy and enjoy her baby stage through homeschooling, even if a few other things have to be simplified or let go of. (Me.)
For our first day of school... we ate breakfast in bed, did an art project, went to the swimming pool, and watched a movie together. #bestfirstdayever
(The other kids at the pool? Also homeschoolers.)
Also for the first week of school we went to a Homeschool STEM Camporee up in the mountains. It was held at Camp Tracey and there were a bunch of activities and things to do. Next year I'm going to make some of our homeschool friends come with us, because it would have been more fun to go with a group - but it was still a good experience.
I didn't do as much prep over the summer as I had been hoping to do - but we are excited for the year and hopeful that it will be as good of an experience as it was for us last year. I'm so grateful to be able to keep my kids home and learn and grow together.
