Things we've learned this week:

1. Potty Training is exhausting. I've read several things and had several people give advice for the best way to potty train - but what no one tells you is how to transition from sitting on the potty all day (which we do great with) to actually going back to a regular schedule and wearing real clothes. Or telling you about how completely exhausting it is to help a two year old go pee on the potty 50 times a day. Seriously. It. Is. Exhausting. It's a miracle that anyone ever learns to use the toilet.

2. Picking a baby name that is cute, good for a baby, good for a man, not too popular, not too unusual, and that we both agree on is really hard!

3. Nesting energy is good for finally getting things hung on walls, even if it isn't in a nursery but in a living room that has been sorely neglected for a year and a half.

4. Sometimes one's efforts to make happy summer memories end up being less "We'll pick up some sno-cones, drive to a park, eat them in the shade, and then play on the playground with our toddler" and more "Wait in a drive through for 15 minutes then - Ahhh, these snocones are giant! Quick drink the juice before they spill all over. Drive faster! We've got to get to the park before bad things happen. Whoah, whoah, slow down! Oh noooooooooo - sno-cone everywhere! I look like I've been shot! I want some mommy's ice cream!  Quick grab the wipes and make for that picnic table over there. Why are these sno-cones melting so much? Oh well, let's play at the park, run some errands, and go out to eat regardless of the bright red stains all over our shirts/pants/toddler." However, the uncontrollable laughter by all involved makes for it's own happy family memory - even if it isn't "picture perfect".

5. Taking a picture with a cell phone of three syrup-covered family members and two giant sno-cones is harder than it appears. Also - our new cell phones take awesome pictures.

6. The Wild Zucchini is delicious. We should have tried it much, much sooner. (Editor's note from David: This is totally on me. Shantel has been trying to get us to go here for over a year. However, I was really reluctant, because I was not sure it was going to be my kind of food. I was completely wrong, it was super delicious and so fun to be there with Shantel and Lydia.)

7. Earning 5% on every purchase with our new Target Red Card may not actually save us any money overall.  Pictured are only a fraction of the items we've purchased from Target this week. Let's call it a nesting spending binge. Fortunately this is all stuff we either budgeted for a year and half ago and just finally found something we like (Kitchen Rugs) or stuff for our new nursery (curtains and sheets). We had a really fun time buying all of these things and our house looks awesome!
