The last Wednesday of February was Free Zoo Day at the Hogle Zoo. David has been working like crazy so I thought that I would like to take the kids on a little trip to the zoo. We all know that I'm a sucker for all things free (and I secretly like the craziness of how many people turn out for events like free zoo day). I then invited my dear friend Ashley, who does not secretly love massive amounts of people and the craziness of large crowds. Luckily for us, she came anyway. (Even after seeing the craziness of the zoo parking lot.) We loved adventuring with our Coopers and enjoyed walking around in the sunshine! Ashley later commented that she'd probably just rather pay the entrance fee and come on a not-so-busy day and I have to concede that it would have been nice to see more of the animals and not have so many people around, but for what it was - it was a wonderful day.
Lydia loves panda bears, and without even thinking - I told her that we were going to the zoo to see the panda bears. It wasn't until we were at the zoo that I realized that the Hogle Zoo doesn't have any panda bears. Lydia was super disappointed (and I was, too), but she was such a champ and easily accepted the substitute when I told her that we would go home and watch the live-feed Panda Cam from the San Diego Zoo. Lydia and Elsie were sweet friends holding hands and adventuring together, but both ran off together even when their mommies were calling for them to stay close.
I loved being able to wear Austin in my Ergo baby carrier (I had lent my Beco to a friend, but am glad I did because I was totally able to nurse Austin while we walked around). It was nice that neither of us had to fight with strollers because Ashley and I were both wearing our babies. #babywearingforthewin We love our Coopers, and are so glad that we got to spend the day walking around in the sun and seeing all of the zoo animals (sans-pandas).
