October Wrap Up

Here are some other fun things from October:

Social distance visit to Grandma and Grandpa Peaden. 

This was Caleb slinking along my floor. He was trying to hide something that he had taken from the bathroom (which he did successfully). Later we found out he had taken some tums from the bedroom. So he was successful, fortunately we found out and were able to return the tums safely.

Hallmark has a whole bunch of Christmas movies starting already and we are loving having so many cheesy storylines to choose from. 

One day Lucy started just walking off down the street and Lydia went and took care of her and brought her back. 

The kids also decided to decorate our little bush outside. The kids got all the neighbor kids to collect branches and leaves and flowers from all over the street to get it decorated.

We spent one Saturday finally cleaning out the garage and now Shantel can finally park the van back in the garage again. 

One day the kids told Shantel, "our ketchup looks like a dinosaur!" They begged her to take a picture, but she said no. Later that day she found her phone and the kids had taken a picture anyway, so funny. (It does look like a dinosaur). 

Family Home Evening lesson. I had everyone lay out on the floor to spell, "love."

Halloween 2020

There was a lot of discussion from people about how to do Halloween this year given the pandemic. On our end, we just did not think it made a lot of sense to have our kids go around and do the traditional trick or treating. We'd much rather be on the safe side and help slow the spread of COVID-19. Instead, we decided we should just do a Halloween party. Jenna was nice enough to invite us to her house for a party. Also, she put all of it together and was so nice. Shantel made all the costumes. 

We've had the Haderlie kids at our house a lot the last 3-4 months and our kids and their kids have been deciding to all be Wild Kratts this year.

The whole Wild Kratts crew. They each had a pouch with creature cards to transform into a bunch of different animals! The pouches were so cute and the kids loved them.

Shantel dressed up as Zach and Jenna dressed up as Gormund who are a couple of the evil characters.

Jenna made this awesome board and each kid got to pick the next activity. 

Up first was the punch a prize. 

A couple months ago the kids all made pinatas, so the 2nd activity was breaking the pinatas which were filled with candy and small toys. Each child had their own pinata so they got to break it and then go and grab all the stuff for their bucket. 

Next up- donut on a string in 3 rounds: The little kids, the bigger kids and then the adults!

Then we did mummy wrapping. One team wrapped Camille while the other team wrapped me. 

Next we had a dance party with glow sticks in the dark. 

Then the kids had to search for animals and earned a candy for each animal they could find in 30 seconds. 

Then the kids had a "Ghost Search" which were really suckers that had been wrapped up. 

It ended up as the perfect Halloween! The kids loved every minute of it. They loved the games and all the fun things and they got tons of candy and they loved that. I really enjoyed the party as well and seeing the kids light up with joy at each new activity. We were grateful to be able to celebrate halloween this year - even if it was a bit different. 

Shantel and I stayed up late with Jenna to play games after the kids were in bed (Kevin was away working). We brought an escape room in a box game that was super fun and really enjoyed doing that.
