We were scheduled for our big Hawaii trip the first week of November, but due to various reasons, but mostly due to COVID-19, we decided to delay that trip and book it later. We were so sad, not that we made the wrong choice, but just that we really were looking forward to then. Jenna was also set to watch our kids, so instead we did a two day (one night) getaway and had such an amazing time.
On Monday we did some Christmas shopping together in hopes that we could get most of our Christmas shopping done early. That night we made reservations for the Melting Pot. We decided to do the full experience with all four courses (cheese, salad, entre and dessert). We ordered a lemonade and strawberry daiquiri. We got the basic Cheddar cheese dip (using a broth base instead of alcohol). We like the dip, but I think we would do a different cheese dip next time. The salads were good, but nothing super special. Actually, I think Shantel really liked her salad. The meat and dessert were the real stars of the show. It was fun to cook the meat right in front of us. We had an oil pot and then a griddle. We had premium filet mignon, Teriyaki-Marinated Steak, Herb Crusted Chicken Breast, Shrimp, Atlantic Salmon and Wild Mushroom pasta. It was so much food and was delicious. My favorites were the filet mignon and herb crusted chicken. For dessert we did a milk chocolate with toffee and it was so incredible good. I loved it especially on the bananas and strawberries. Shantel also really loved it with the Marshmallows.
Shantel and I have been really hesitant to go to a fancy and expensive restaurant because it is so hard to spent $100-$150 on dinner when we'd be happy going to Chilies for $25. However, this worked out really well because having four different courses made it feel special and also it felt like more of an experience since you do cooking and dipping.
