Softball and Baseball

This Spring Lydia and Austin decided that they wanted to play Softball and Baseball. It was a big commitment for them, but they both learned great lessons and grew a lot. It is important to me that our kids not be overscheduled because I believe that too many extracurricular activities are not good for kids (at least my kids). However, I am grateful that we have rec sports in our community so that my kids can get experience with playing different sports, build their confidence, and learn new things.

Lydia's softball team was a great fit for her. She didn't know much about softball going in, but she worked hard and improved her skills through the season. The coaches were so kind and it made a big difference to her season. The Renchers came out to support her one day and that was so kind of them!

She made friends on her team and one of her best friends Lily Young played on a different team and it was fun to see them every once in a while.

Austin's baseball team wasn't nearly as intense as Lydia's, just given the age - but he REALLY enjoyed it. He's going to be a great little sports player because he cares about the game and isn't scared to jump in. We practiced a lot with him and his skills improved a lot over the season. He hit the ball almost every time (coach pitch), and was so proud of himself. We really liked baseball and will definitely do it again next year.
