Big news people, after almost three years of marriage - David and I have finally decided to buy a Christmas tree this year. Our first two "married" Christmases were when we were living in Logan. Due to the extremely long and incredibly happy Christmas breaks allotted to college students, we couldn't ever really justify buying a tree. I mean - by December 15th we were out of town visiting with family members and only returned the night before the next semester began. Thus our Christmas decorating was fairly small (although - still perfect for our little apartment in Logan).
But this year... This year we will be in our apartment for the majority of the holidays! And so, after deciding that we wanted a Christmas tree... the search was on. We wish we could buy a real tree - but where we don't live by mountains, don't have a truck, and can't spend $50 to get a tree from a lot in the city every year - it's not really an option. So instead we decided to find the most beautiful, most affordable, "real" looking tree out there. My little brother Jacob will be appalled when he discovers that we "sold out to the man" and bought a fake tree. Many of you may have similar feelings, but we think that having a really nice tree that compacts nicely into a box, doesn't have to be hauled around on the top of our car, watered repeatedly, or recycled after the holidays sounds just perfect for us.
So the search was on! We searched through Black Friday ads and then made quick and decisive visits to store after store after store. The process went something like this: Walk in, scope out the trees, make several American Idol-esque critiques, walk out while planning the next store to hit up. We were very disappointed with the tree selection - mostly we knew exactly what we wanted and we knew exactly what price range we wanted to stay in. However, in the end we found the perfect tree and we are SO SO pleased!

Oh, and in case you don't believe that this tree wasn't grown in the deep parts of some remote forest (because it looks SO real) - here I am taking the pieces out of the box:
See it's true! As much as I am kind of joking - i'm actually serious. The tree looks really nice, even if the picture doesn't do it justice. Unfortunately - with the purchase of this tree also went all of our Christmas decorating budget. We will have to make paper snowflakes or poofballs this year and wait to get ornaments and such next year. We did get lights, but I don't have a picture of them and i'm too lazy to walk out into the front room, take a picture of the lights, and come back in and load it on the computer. Just picture the most beautiful lights on the most beautiful christmas tree and you will know what our little apartment looks like. In conclusion, we love our tree and are SO excited for Christmas this year. (Especially because we find out whether we are having a boy or girl on December 21st. Best. Present. Ever. )
