Snow, Stress, and Forever Sharp Knives

Its snowing outside. Real snow. Blizzard-esque snow. Not just the little flakes that have been flying around every couple of days for the past couple of weeks.

Yesterday was the most beautiful Fall day we have experienced this year. It was gorgeous. David and I couldn't help but admire all of the crisp fall colors and watch the leaves whipping around in the wind. I can't believe that yesterday the temperature was in the 60s, and today we wake up to a slushy, snowy day. Oh well, such is the way the weather works here in Logan.

I feel like I have lost my balance in life. My equilibrium is just off a little bit. I think that the stress of all of the changes happening around us have really had a subconscious, yet negative, effect on me. I have lost several important papers, forgot to pay our rent, over-booked myself (and David), and made a HUGE mistake at work. I really hate to be flaky, and I HATE when I make mistakes at work. I realize that it isn't the end of the world. I realize that even just one short year from now my mistakes will be forgotten. I realize that I am a dramatic person and should just chill out. However, realizing these things doesn't do anything to lessen the load I feel every time I do something stupid. Is perfection too much to ask from myself?

When I get loaded with stress, the smallest things can set me off. For example, this weekend I watched the movie Funny Girl while I was finishing my Quiet Book sewing project. It was so sad, and I cried and cried. Even after the movie was over, I cried for almost an hour. I went into the bedroom where David was taking a nap and snuggled up to him while crying my little heart out. He woke up almost immediately and thought that something terrible had happened. When he asked what was wrong, all I could tell him is that I had watched a really sad movie and was really sad about it. I couldn't pin-point something that was "the matter." Really, it was just me needing to release some pent up stress.

Don't worry, I feel much better now.

This weekend was a busy one for us. I had two consultations for wedding announcements, several other wedding announcements that were in various stages of the design process, the Quiet Book project to complete, a wonderful visit from my sister-in-law Amy, and a trip to Rexburg to watch my little sister compete in the "Battle of the Dance" at BYU-I. Although it was busy, it was a wonderful weekend and I enjoyed almost every moment of it! It was great to have Amy up visiting, and great to see my family. (Everyone drove up to Rexburg to see Jenna compete.)

I wish that I had pictures, but I don't. Because I'm lame. Oh well.

Do you realize that this is the second post in a row with no pictures? I am really sorry about that. I like to include pictures with my posts. Unfortunately, this post is so incredibly random that I can't even think of any pictures to include.  Hmmmm...

How about this:

This is of Jenna and I sometime last year. I just stole this from her facebook. She really did such a great job at the Battle of the Dances! She is on a Big Band Swing team, and she was darling. I wish I could be more like her in all areas of my life.

Another one of us, just so you can see how we have changed over the last year. :)

This is one of my favorite wedding pictures. A little different than most, but I adore it.
This is volume 1 of the book on CD that David and I are listening to right now. We are on the 5th and final volume. It is excellent and we are going to be really sad when it is over! Orson Scott Card is my favorite author, hands down. I have read almost all of his books, and now have to ration myself to only one of his books when I go to the library. It's nice to know that I will always really enjoy at least one book that I check out, because I always enjoy his books! Now if the stubborn man would stop starting new series's and just finish the ones that he has already started!
These Stuffed Pizza Rolls from HERE are amazing. We had them for lunch on Saturday, and we will definitely be making them again. However, next time I'm not going to be afraid to over-fill my pizza rolls. I thought that the filling would spill out if we put too much in, but they could have used a little more filling.

This is a set of "Forever Sharp" Kitchen Knives. You may wonder why it is being included in this blog post. There are several reasons actually. One reason is that this has turned into an incredibly random post and there isn't much I could do to make it more random than adding a set of Kitchen Knives at the bottom of the post. Reason two is that I got suckered into buying these knives at Sams Club today. Darn that incredibly persuasive Infomercial Man! His demonstration was incredibly convincing. The best part? David was with me, and was convinced as well! (Although, I think that he is entertaining thoughts of taking them back to Sams Club later this week.) I am such a sucker. I think that it's because I have been a salesperson for so many different things that I am much more susceptible to buying something. I've bought several things over the years including a yearly subscription to a newspaper that I hadn't ever read, and only read once after it started showing up on our doorstep. (My roommates and I just designated a drawer in our kitchen to be the newspaper drawer.)  I will be the lady that all of the kids come to with their fund-raising catelogs, pies, and projects. I can't help it!

I feel much better about the addition of pictures to this incredibly random post.

Oh, and just for the record... it isn't snowing anymore. It's slushing.

So, is there something wrong with the knives?

And those stuffed pizza rolls look so good. I am going to be making those very soon.

I need to cry almost weekly - and I don't lead a very stressful life. I don't even need a sad movie to set me off - I just need to think about what would happen if my husband died. (I know that's so morbid, I don't know why I do it but the idea will just pop into my head and I can't get it out and I will cry for at least half an hour. Usually much longer.) So no judgments from me if you cry at a movie. :) Or if there's no "matter".
