Snowman 2017 (and day After New Year's fun)

Lydia spent all of last summer saying, "when will it be winter again?" What child does that? Our sweet and fun loving Lydia who could not wait to do sledding and build a snowman. She was so excited for it. We had a few snowstorms and she had some some sledding and a little bit of snow shoveling, but we were waiting for a nice big snowstorm to build a snowman.

Finally on the the 2nd we got a nice big storm, and I had the day off for New Year's.

Even though I got the day off, Lydia still had her gymnastics class which was awesome to be able to go and see her having fun, especially since it was her last gymnastics class now that she will be doing preschool (with gymnastics), more on that later this month.

When we got back from preschool, plus a trip to the grocery store Lydia was so excited to go outside and help me shovel all the snow from our driveway.

As soon as we finished shoveling, we went straight to the backyard to make our snowman. Lydia helped me roll up the big snow balls for each layer and told me exactly how big to make everything. She said it needed to be as tall as her. She loved helping me get snow off the ground to fill in and stabilize our snowman. Some neighbor kids gave her a snowman kit that came with a hat, lips, eyes, ears and everything you need to build a snowman. That was by far her favorite pick. She got to pick the eyes and mouth to use (there were multiple to choose from) and loved pushing them into the snow. Lydia had fun hiding behind the snowman and then rolling in the snow. It turns out our snowman was really a snowwomen and Lydia gave her a name, "Ooh la la" after her fancy lips. I absolutely loved it. (P.S. Lydia also loved eating the snow).

We came inside just as Austin was waking up from his nap. His awesome mommy had built him a fort to take a nap in and Lydia decided to join inside. They had so much fun rolling around in there.

We played downstairs and Austin and Lydia took turns pushing cars back and forth with Shantel. Then Austin even got a nice ride in the big dump truck.

After family home evening, Lydia asked for the activity to be roller skating in the basement. She is getting so good already and we had a ton of fun.

I can't think of a better way to kick off 2017!
