I've never been a girl to own a million pairs of shoes. Give me a pair of tennis shoes, some sunday shoes, a pair of flip flops, and maybe some brown shoes and I am a happy camper. However, my desire to have cute shoes that match my outfit has grown in the past few years. For Christmas I received three pairs of shoes (all of which I picked out and had David buy while we were Christmas shopping for other people... oops!) This is rather a big deal for me, because I am pretty picky about shoes.
Today I wore my new black flats for the first time and all I have to say is OUCH! They are giving me blisters. Luckily I am done with classes for the day and so it's fine for me to walk around my classroom without shoes. But I am so sad! I love the way these shoes look. I have the tendency to stop wearing any pair of shoes that isn't instantly comfortable, but I know that "beauty is pain".
What do you think? Should I keep wearing them and hope that I break them in? Should I throw them into the recesses of my closet and hope that the next time I discover them they will feel better when I wear them? I am accepting any and all form of advice on the matter.
Also, please let me tell you how much I love my job. It is awesome. The end.

Keep them! New shoes always hurt the first time you wear them teaching. Soon they will be comfy! =)
Definitely keep them! When I have new shoes I try just wearing them a little bit at a time like to church or a store to break them in, but soon they will be your favorite pair. Let us know what you decide!
For sure keep them. But wear them little by little as Kasja said above. It can be too much for your feet to take if you wear them all day long while standing. You'll get used to them and love them. In the mean time, have David give you a foot massage ;)
I seriously am so happy you love your job! You really deserve it. Shoes that hurt are the worst! I say if they don't get broken in and feeling better in the next few times wearing them, then I would say they're out!
I agree with all the comments about slowly breaking them in. But to add: I have a pair of flats that I feel I have broken in but they continue to tear my feet apart - I have solved this by buying those gel sticky things you can put on the back of the shoe above your heel (what are those called?) and that helps immensely! But that's where I get blisters with that particular pair. If it's on your toes - I don't know. :)
I'm kinda with you on a love/hate relationship with shoes. I love cute shoes and wish I could have lots but I'm too practical so when I actually buy shoes I usually go with practicality. I wish I had money to buy both practical and cute shoes. :)
I know they sell some type of padded band aids...that is how I get through my bad pairs of shoes! See if you can find any- it will make life SO much better! I hate breaking in new shoes- good luck!
Oooo breaking in shoes and blisters is no fun! I've had shoes that break in and get comfortable after I wear them a bit, and then I've had others that don't! So I'd try to break them in a little at a time and hopefully it works! Cause I always feel bad spending money and not getting good use out of something.
I'm so glad you love your job!! I hope the craziness is calming down and that everything is going great for you guys :)
I finally gave up on cute shoes for school and just got ones that don't kill my feet. I have seen other teachers wear there cute ones in and out of school but teach with slippers. LOL.
I think you should just give up....give them to your little sister or something! :)
i teach without shoes all time time. whenever i wear heels i get here and think, 'what was i thinking?' and then take my shoes off. ha. so professional, right?
