Hello, my name is Shantel and today is my birthday.
Some people hide the fact that it is their birthday because they are embarrassed or they think are being humble. But please let me tell you...
I am not that person.
I love my birthday. I always have. It's probably because I was blessed with such wonderful parents, siblings, and friends who always did everything they could to make my birthday a special day. I love to celebrate pretty much any chance that I get - and birthdays are a great opportunity to have a party! I'm lucky enough to be married to a guy who loves me enough to celebrate all week when my birthday rolls around - he is so good to me. He also humors me when I get so excited and want to celebrate his birthday for a full week as well. I have big plans for our kids and how to make their birthdays special.
I just want to share some of the things that have made my birthday so special today:
-If you add up my birth date: 9+15+1987 you get 2011. Yes. This is the most special birthday ever!
- Waking up to a wonderful husband who wrapped a pile a presents for me and stacked them beautifully in our kitchen.
-Getting to open one of my presents before I had to go to school this morning.
-Having students all through the day wish/sing me happy birthday and/or popping into my classroom just to wish me a happy birthday because they only have me on B days and today is an A day.
-Receiving balloons, popcorn, and otter pops from the other FACS teachers at my school. I work with such great people.
-Being an adviser to a great group of FCCLA students who made me a poster that says "Happy Birthday Mrs. Peaden" with notes from each one of them around the edges.
-Hearing my phone buzz in my drawer on and off all day from the phone calls and texts that I am receiving. I have such great friends. I am so blessed.
-Realizing that I am 24.
-The fire drill during first period today.
-Sitting here at school, blogging about how much I love my birthday and knowing that I have the rest of the day ahead of me. I can't wait to go out to dinner tonight - and really just take a day to celebrate. I'm truly the luckiest girl in the whole world.
I just want to say thank you to all of my wonderful friends and family who have done so much to make this day so special to me. Love you all!

Oooh, my special birthday will be in 2024. And I'll be old!
Having students wish you happy birthday is so much fun. I feel sad about being a dud on your birthday this last year. I shall repent this year. :)
