10.11.12

I may be weird, but one of my quirks is that I love it when the date is something neat. And guess what. Today is a super special day. Today is:

10.11.12

Now, this day would be special just in its inherent coolness. But it's not just a regular special day. It's a SUPER special day. Why? Because it is this boys birthday!

We figured it out, and a persons chances of having a birthday with consecutive numbers is 1 in 2,282. That makes this day super special, which is fitting for my super special guy.

David turned 28 today. And I will just say this... I was determined to make this day the BEST 28th birthday he has ever had! We started out Davids birthday week with tickets to the USU vs. BYU game last Friday and have been going strong ever since. (I'm a firm believer that Birthdays should last longer than one day - it takes at least a week to get all the proper celebrations in.) Family birthday parties, special snacks and movie nights, surprise decorations, and multiplying presents have filled up much of this week. David's boss even took us out to dinner at Goodwood last night, although that was just because he is an awesome employee - I don't think that they knew it was his birthday... but whatever - we counted it as an extra birthday celebration. David hasn't opened his presents yet. But, i'll be sure to update with what he receives. (It's taking all of my effort not to post about them right now because i'm so excited. Remember this post on how hard it is to keep a secret? Yeah, it's like that.)

The day's celebrations kicked off with early morning bacon-and-eggs before David had to go to work.

Some things about David that make him so special:
-The way he always makes me feel loved and appreciated. (Even when I mess up, am sad, or don't feel like I deserve someone so wonderful.)
-The way that he acts around Lydia. David makes such a wonderful father, and I can't wait to watch him with our children as they grow up.
-His uncanny ability to recall any sport fact from last night's game to the big game of '52 (or whatever).
-How hard he works in everything that he does.
-The way he looks at a situation and finds the best.
-How funny he is, the jokes he tells, and the way he laughs.
-The excited face he gets when I surprise him with something small.
-The love he has for the gospel and the desire he has to serve and become like Jesus Christ.

I am so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man. David, Happy Birthday my love! I love you, and hope that you have the best 28th birthday EVER!

Update:
Here are some more pictures of the night. I don't know that they really need their own blog post, so i'm adding them to the bottom of this one.

The very first thing we did when David got home was to pack ourselves up and drive over to our house. They are making so much progress! The foundation is already poured and it looks awesome.

Then we came home and while waiting for our dinner to finish cooking, I sang to David and he blew out the candles on his "cake" (Chip Bars).

We ate David's favorite meal for dinner - Potato Supreme.

Presents:

I got David an Aggie shirt (with the new logo), a new work shirt, a funny printout that pretty much describes our sleeping habits perfectly, a "Date-night package" aka a Pass-of-all-passes, and I printed the first year and a half of our blog into a book. I love all of the things so much - and am so glad that he was so excited and loved them too. I especially love the blog book. It's so neat! We finished off the night by watching "The Avengers" on our Clearplay which was pretty awesome! Happy Birthday again, my love. I hope you had a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday David!
Shantel, I love that you believe birthdays are such a big deal. I absolutely agree, but Scott and his family don't, and it's been an interesting dynamic in our marriage. :)

The bed cartography is hilarious - I love it! Also, when you're back in town, I would love to look at your blog book and see how it turned out. Thank you so much for coming over yesterday - it was wonderful to visit! :)
