Introducing...

Caleb Samuel Peaden
March 10, 2017
8:56 p.m.
8 lbs 13 oz
20 inches long

We are thrilled to announce that this sweet boy has finally arrived. He is perfect in every way and we couldn't possibly love him more. He came quickly, once he decided he was ready - arriving exactly two hours after we were admitted to the hospital and only three hours after active labor began.

It took a long time to find a name that we loved (and for a while I got stuck thinking I wanted a Irish/Scottish name). But in the end, we love his name and feel like it fits him perfectly. We named him Caleb (of Hebrew origin) meaning "faith, devotion, whole hearted". In the bible, Caleb, a companion of Moses and Joshua, was noted for his astute powers of observation and fearlessness in the face of overwhelming odds and for his devotion to God.

Although it was quite the struggle to find a first name that we felt good about, we knew from almost the very beginning that we wanted to use the middle name Samuel after Caleb's uncle, Sam Rencher.

We have always admired Sam for many reasons and hope that Caleb will have his same characteristics: kindness, faith in Christ, selflessness, a fun and joyous spirit, the capacity to listen to the Holy Ghost. Both Sam and Wendy have been terrific mentors for us in parenting and in marriage and we have tried to emulate them and their goodness. We want to raise our children in the way they have raised theirs, with love and righteousness and goodness. In fact, we almost thought about naming him Caleb “Wendy & Sam” Peaden, but thought that might be a bit long. We are blessed to be surrounded by many, many incredible family members - but hope that as Caleb grows he will be able to identify and emulate the goodness that Sam exemplifies.

We love you sweet Caleb. We're so glad that you are in our family!
