One of our highlights every summer is the Peaden/Middleton camping trip. We love spending time with them and it is always a ton of fun. This year was a bit tricky trying to find dates that work well. With Shantel due with a baby in mid June, we did not really want to go that far away, and May is a little cold to go camping. However, Ali is due with a baby in November, so doing something later in the year does not really work for them.
We decided to not stress if we could not do all the same things we normally would do. Initially we planned to camp in the Middleton's backyard, but with rain scheduled, we decided not to camp out, and instead just do a stay at home Middleton/Peaden trip and keep things low key.
Friday Night:
We went to the Middleton's house (it was my first time seeing there new house) to spend the evening there. We let the kids play outside and they loved riding this car. We made pizza and had a delicious dinner. After dinner we played games with the kids, watched them do a puppet show and spent a lot of time just chatting. It was so great. We put Caleb to bed so we could stay longer and then headed home around 9:30 or 10.
Saturday:
Saturday morning we did baths first thing. Caleb took a bath and then we got him dressed. Thirty seconds later we heard crying from the bath tub and found him soaked in the tub after he had fallen in. He was so sad.
The Middleton's came over for breakfast and we made waffles, eggs and sausage. This might be a good place to note that I love waffles and whipped cream with strawberries and bananas. It is my favorite breakfast by far. In fact, it is even better if you cover the whipped cream, strawberries and bananas with syrup. Seriously, best breakfast ever (as long as you add some bacon). We all had such a good breakfast.
After we ate the kids were pretty happy playing, so we just sat around and chatted for a while.
Then we headed up American Fork Canyon for a little hike, and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows.
After lunch we went on a little 15-20 minute hike (really a nature trail walk) while Shantel stayed back to watch the fire.
Then it was time to roast marshmallows and make smores.

We had such an amazing time and are so grateful for this family. Spending time with them is always uplifting and we love this tradition so much.
The Middleton's left, but we hung around a little extra to let the kids play around and we had a fun time. It was nice to not have anywhere to be and nothing to do except let the kids explore as much as they wanted.
