Oh Lucy-goose. We love you. There's not much to say. You're easily the most adored member of the family and you are generous with your smiles and your love.
Stats:
(I forgot to set a 9 month well check for Lucy this month. Usually, it's not a huge deal, I just call and set one, but just in the last few days/week things in the outside world have gotten a wee bit crazy and most everything is shutting down due to the spread of a scary virus, Covid-19. So I think I'm going to hold off on setting her appointment for a little while. So until then, no official stats - but this is what I've got...)
Unofficial stats:
Starting to grow out of 9 month clothes, which has been a dilemma because all of her 9-12 month clothes have been stuck in the closet of the nursery, which also happens to be serving as our makeshift storage room. So she's only had a handful of outfits that she's been rotating through. She's basically missed the whole size, she's growing so fast. She's got one tooth poking through the top. She's eating all sorts of big-kid food, her favorite is pasta with red sauce (lasagna is her fav.) She also eats things like enchiladas (cut up) really well. Not crawling, but smiling and laughing more each day.
A quick update on Lucy's Eyes/Albinism: We are in the process of getting the genetic testing results back from our genetic counselor. We met with her and she swabbed Lucy's mouth for a saliva sample and sent it in to be tested, because if you remember - the Pediatric Opthtomologist at the Moran Eye Center, Dr. Owen, wasn't convinced about the diagnosis of Albinism. So rather than assume that she probably does have Albinism, take precautions for 12 years or something, then have Lucy find out she actually doesn't have Albinism, we decided to just move forward with the Genetic testing. It's been a couple of weeks and we should hear back soon. But it doesn't really matter what the test results say, because every day is a miracle. Lucy can see enough to pick up small objects, can see us from around the room, and seems to see better every single day. It's a living miracle and I'm SO grateful.
It's so fun to see her interact with her siblings. She has different relationships with each one.
-Austin loves to make her laugh and he. is. good. at. it. Lucy starts smiling as soon as his head appears above her. He can make her laugh more than anyone else. He's such a good brother and loves her and you can tell she thinks that he's the funniest of us all. (plus she doesn't mind when he lays on her lap).
-Lydia is the sweetest big sister and loves to cuddle with Lucy. She reads books to her, sits Lucy next to her while she does her schoolwork, and begs to have her cuddle in her bed at bedtime. Lucy adores her. Lydia has just started building towers of blocks for Lucy and encouraging her to knock them over and it was awesome.
-Caleb loves Lucy maybe the most of any of the siblings. He just absolutely LOVES her. My favorite thing he says is when he gets close to her and she reaches out to touch him and he will smile a huge smile and say "She loves me!" It melts my heart. Lucy is a little less sure of him most of the time and warily tolerates his presence - but every once in a while I get a glimpse of the great friends that these two are going to be.
Our sleeping situation. We are 100 percent cosleeping. It's working well for us and I love holding her close to me while we fall asleep. She still sleeps on her own in my bed for her naps during the day.
Lucy got sick this month which was sad. She had a fever and you could tell she was just not feeling well. We ended up missing some of our Tuesday trips to West Jordan because we didn't want to get Sue sick.
I did transition her at one point to the zipidee zip, but when she was sick she had a hard time sleeping and so I started wrapping her again. Even when she was sick she was still so sweet. It was a bummer to have her sick, but I'm so glad that she's been healthy thus far and even this cleared up after about a week or so.
I love her.
She's sitting up like a champ, and she not even attempting to crawl. But our biggest news of the month: She has started to ROLL! She's so proud of herself. Almost as proud as I am of her.
She was sleeping one afternoon and she was so sweet that I just had to stop and snap a few pictures of her so I can always remember this sweet baby Lucy. Her sweet sleeping face, her chest slowly rising and falling as she breathes deep, her tiny fingers poking out of the tips of her Zip. The love I have for her swelling up in my heart. I'm so grateful for this girl, so lucky to be her Mama.

David is the sweetest dad. He loves her and she loves him back. Sometimes I put her on the floor to play while I'm doing something, but I have a much higher tolerance for her fussing wanting to be picked back up than he does. He almost always goes and gets her once she starts protesting but she almost always leans out of his arms to come to me as soon as he brings her closer to me. And once she's that close, I can't turn her away. She's good at getting what she wants and she uses her dad to do it, that's all I'm trying to say.
Oh Lucy, we love you. There are a lot of crazy things happening right now. Just in the past week, a coronavirus called Covid-19 spread to the USA (it's mostly been in China and other countries, a complete peripheral news story - I didn't expect it to affect us at all) and as of today, March 17, your daddy is starting to work at home because they are closing down all non-essential EVERYTHING. Schools are closing and it looks like everything else is going to be closing down, too. Even church is going to be held at home for a while (thank goodness for our Come Follow Me studies to prepare us for holding church at home). We are going to be self-isolating in order to try to reduce the impact of the scary virus that is spreading like wildfire throughout the world. It's making people really sick, and people are worried that it is going to start overwhelming hospitals and killing a huge number of people. We don't know a lot right now, but from what we do know, it's mostly affecting the older population, so the fear I have for my children, (you, Lucy) is low, but it's still scary and we are going to do everything we can to keep you safe (and your grandparents, who we love a whole lot). Next month is going to look completely different than this month did - but no matter how scary, crazy, or different - just know that you are loved and you will ALWAYS have a team of people to lean on no matter what happens.
