Lydia Birthday Week

Lydia had a great birthday week. It was so much fun celebrating this wonderful girl. I can't believe she is 9. She is smart, funny, creative and so much fun to be around. She is a great sister and a kind friend. I love reading books with her and playing games with her. Here are a few things from her birthday week.

Birthday popper cups and then a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Peaden for some presents.

Birthday cake (dog bones on the side and a flower on top per her request)

Plus more present opening.

A few days later she had a friend party with 11 friends over (Lilly Wardell, Lily and Iris Young, Audrey and Ellie Ward, Henry and Andi Middleton, Emilee from a few houses down, Maya Avrahami, Gideon Johnson and Reagan Rossell. In addition, Austin joined in too. Shantel and I have talked recently about how wonderful it is that Lydia has such a great group of friends right now. In particular, Lilly Wardell, Lily and Iris Young and Maya Avrahami are her best friends. They are good at allowing Lydia to be herself and are kind friends. I'm grateful she has good friends and hope that she will continue to have good influences on her.

Lydia had some very specific things she wanted for her party: Bowling, scavenger hunt and making a treat. We told her we could make it happen. We sent everyone to the backyard to play while everyone was arriving and then went and did games in the basement (bowling and corn hole). After we had them come upstairs and I had prepared a scavenger hunt where they followed clues that led them to the ingredients they would need to make rice crispy treats. Everyone got to make their own giant rice crispy treats and we had tons of candy they could either mix in or add on top for decorations

At the end we did cake and ice cream and then Lydia opened presents

This was really our first normal activity since the start of COVID-19 where we had kids over and did not have them wear masks or anything. Lydia was so happy and it was great to see her be able to enjoy this great group of friends that she has. Happy Birthday week Lydia!
