Eide Bailly Work Party
This year for David's work party, they had a 20's themed murder mystery dinner in Salt Lake. We love things like that and had such a fun time (other than a few off-color jokes by the Mystery cast which always make me uncomfortable). I got a new dress, picked by my fashonista sister, Melissa and had a friend come over to help me with some 20s themed hair (which I ended up bagging and going in curls). Tami let me borrow some beautiful shoes, a clutch, and a necklace. The wonderful Amy came to watch our kids and she got there a little early, too. It was fun to get ready with friends and even more fun to spend a night out on the town with my David. (First real night away from Lucy, and I would say she and I both did great.)

Our friends, the Perkins, always host the best Christmas party. Amy is an incredible baker and she loads up with the most amazing homebaked goodies. Derek dresses up as Santa and gives the kids a candy cane. It's really fun. This is their first year hosting while also having a baby, so earlier in the day I texted Amy and asked if I could watch Amelia while she got ready for the party. If babysitting always paid so handsomely in baked goods, I would watch her every day!

The Christmas Party was a breakfast and you know what the best part was? Neither David and I were in charge of anything, we just showed up!
Peaden Family Christmas Party
Some years we've done bigger family Christmas parties with service projects and elaborate games. A staple of a Peaden Family Christmas party is usually a White Elephant Gift (with the best gifts you can find for $5 or less, rather than weird or quirky gifts). But this year we decided to scale WAY back and just have a simple day of doing some holiday baking, wrapping presents, and playing games. Those were all things that we needed/wanted to do in preparation for Christmas and it worked out so nicely to have so many people there to help and to just enjoy spending time together.

Other Miscellaneous Festiveness
A few other festive odds and ends include: (1) having Grandma Walker open her Christmas present early because my parents are driving to Iowa for Christmas this year to be with Jenna. The gift was an illustrated poster of each family members eye color in an info-graphic, which sounds like a funny present, but she's been talking about wanting pictures of everyone's eyes for a long time and so for Christmas I sat down and created an illustrator version of it! (2) Lydia's piano recital was the night of David's work Christmas party. (2) Lydia practiced diligently for her Christmas piano recital. She also played at an improptu family piano recital at Grandma and Grandpa Peaden's house. (3) Austin carefully helping me wrap the presents he purchased with his own money for Christmas, sweet boy. (4) The cutest little Christmas baby you ever did see.
We have enjoyed this season and are looking forward to Christmas!
