Hey Lucy-lou, you're looking stylish in those shades, girl! You're starting to look like a full-blown toddler and I equally LOVE it and want to hold on to every second because I know how quickly you'll keep growing from here on out. Everyone loves you, with your winning smile and sharp understanding of all that is going on around you.
Stats:
Wearing shoes on a regular basis for the first time since we've been spending so much time outside and you're not willing to be carried around anymore. Size 3 diapers. Size 12-18 month clothes. Starting to get a mullet in the back, even though hair on top still hasn't come in much. A whole mouthful of teeth. 12? I've lost count! (For reference, Lydia only had TWO teeth at 15 months old - all my kids have gotten their teeth late, except Lucy.)
Some more things to remember about this month:
-When I put her down for her nap, she lays her head on my shoulder. I sing a song and she hums along.
-She's gotten to a point where she gets really frustrated when she doesn't get exactly what she wants and she lashes out about it. She'll throw her body to the ground, or try to grab and scratch. I'm sure it's just a phase, but it breaks my heart to see her so upset. It's so hard to be a baby and not be able to express your emotions or what you want.
-I mentioned this above, but she has SO many teeth. She's basically 100% weaned, and mostly because of the teeth thing. But she has the cutest toothy grin and we love that about her.
-She walks everywhere now. As soon and she learned to walk, she pretty much never crawled again - but she used to let me carry her around when we were outside and such. Now she wants to walk everywhere we go and prefers not to be carried (or sitting for very long at all).
-She likes her sunglasses (you can tell they help so much) and keeps her hat on like a champ.
Sibling love, mama love, zoo day.
Cousin love, sibling love and walking outside. - Look at that grin!-
She sat down and carefully picked up handful after handful of rocks to put onto the flat stone beside her.
She loves running water. Sinks, baths, and especially rivers.
She's developing so much of her personality. She's adventurous, stubborn, firey, and so so loving. I just want to soak up every baby snuggle that she's willing to give to me.
We took her to an eye appointment this month. No real news other than she HATED getting her eyes dilated. She did great until the lady used a light-up-toy to distract her before spraying her eyes with the dilating liquid. We calmed her down, but when Dr. Owen used the same toy to try to have her track so she could observe - Lucy started crying and wouldn't calm down. You could tell she was angry. They couldn't tell us anything new, but we are so incredibly grateful that she is doing well and we pray for continued strengthening and growth in her eyes.
Oh Lucy. If only you knew how much we love you. You're such an important piece of this family puzzle. (I'm writing this as you're sleeping upstairs and I just want to go upstairs, pull you out of your crib, and snuggle with you in our big rocking chair while you sleep on my chest. I just love you so much.)
